Privacy Policy

QuickConvert — Instant Currency Converter Chrome Extension Effective and last updated: July 3, 2026
In short: QuickConvert does not collect, store, sell, or transmit any personal information, browsing history, or the text you convert. All preferences are stored locally on your device.

1.Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the QuickConvert — Instant Currency Converter browser extension ("QuickConvert," "the Extension," "we," "us"), developed and maintained by Akshay Mundra and Yashvardhan Singh. It explains what data the Extension accesses, how that data is used, and what it never does with your information.

2.Data we do not collect

QuickConvert is built to function entirely without collecting personal or sensitive user data. Specifically, the Extension does not:

3.What the Extension actually accesses, and why

QuickConvert requests the minimum set of browser permissions needed for it to function. Here is exactly what each one is used for:

Permission Purpose
storage Saves your preferences (default currency, decimal precision, favorite currency pairs) locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage. This data stays on your device and is never uploaded anywhere.
contextMenus Adds a "Convert with QuickConvert" option to your right-click menu so you can convert a price you've highlighted on a page.
activeTab Lets the Extension read only the specific text you have explicitly selected on the current page, only at the moment you trigger a conversion. QuickConvert cannot read or monitor page content you haven't selected, and cannot access other open tabs.

4.Exchange rate data

To display accurate conversions, QuickConvert periodically fetches current exchange rates from a public, third-party exchange-rate API. This request retrieves rate data only — it does not include your identity, browsing activity, selected text, or any personal information. The most recently downloaded rates are cached on your device so that QuickConvert continues to work offline between updates.

5.Where your data lives

All preferences and cached exchange-rate data are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. We do not operate any servers that receive, log, or store this information, and we have no remote database of user data. Uninstalling the Extension removes this locally stored data.

6.Children's privacy

QuickConvert is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

7.Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, update the Extension's Chrome Web Store listing. Continued use of QuickConvert after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
